Holiday Wishes

This is our Christmas tree for this year. I took several shots of it and was the happiest with the shots like this one. I used the fireworks setting on my Kodak Easy Share camera and had the camera sitting on my tri-pod. This setting allowed the shutter to remain open a little longer than normal and the tri-pod allowed for no movement of the camera while taking the shot. I just love the effects that I got from this setting. I can hardly wait to see the effects I get on the fourth of July with that setting. I have created a couple of layouts with the images along with a tag for my husband's present.

What's the most peculiar gift you've ever received?

This is such a wonderful blog prompt that I just couldn't resist it.

My birthday is in October and I had told everyone that I really didn't want anything. I truly meant it too. So DH got me a card and a little something sweet. Well, my brother came home a few days before my birthday and asked me this same question again. I again repeated myself saying I didn't want anything at all. He was persistant and insisted that I needed something. I again replied that I in fact didn't need anything. This went on for almost an hour so I came into my office and did a digital layout and thought about it.

After about ten minutes I entered the livingroom anouncing that I figured out what I wanted for my birthday. Mind you my dear husband already knew that he shouldn't ask and just go with the fact that I said I wanted nothing. My brother never got the signals my husband was sending so my husband knew he was in trouble.

My brother then asked me what it was that I wanted. I said that I wanted the transmision fluid and filter changed in my truck. He then said no really, what do you want ? I again replied that that in fact was actually what I wanted. So almost $70.00 later I had my birthday present. I would say it was different but it was so worth the laugh and hey I didn't have to pay someone to do it for me. Oh, and my dear husband had already had me talked into going and getting it done so it made it that much funnier.

Wedding Layout

I thought I would post this layout of my niece and her husband on their wedding day. I did this last week and was really thrilled with the results. I think the photo speaks for itself and couldn't help but use it.

The Sights Of Winter

Just one more and then off to creating.

I love to see all of the Christmas decorations going up. It brings a feeling of comfort, home and family to my head. The scent of Chrismas dinner can almost be tasted and you can almost hear all of the laughter. The lights just seem to brighten up the night with happiness.

I love a freshly fallen snow that no one has stepped a foot in. The morning sunlight dancing off of the individual flakes as they pile up in the yard and on the trees. The quietness of the morning with snow on the ground.

Thoughts For The Day...

I was just sitting here thinking just how lucky we have been with the weather this year. It is so mild and we are into the second week of December with temperatures in the 50's. We are currently getting rained on but it is so much better than ice or snow for sure.

I really need to get my Christmas cards in the mail. I think I have a few more to make and I will have enough. I just got the most adorable card from my niece today that reminded me that I need to notch it up a gear.

I am really enjoying my new position at work. It's nice to be appreciated by everyone you come in contact with. The fact that what I am doing makes a difference and makes other's jobs easier is also nice. They gave me an office and a desk finally, so no more toting things around and making my back ache. I have my fingers crossed that it will be permanant for me to use. It would look really good with some pictures on the wall. (LOL) I did manage to bring a radio and trash can today.

I am going to see if I can create something else in Paint Shop Pro to post here. I have a few but let's try something for the holidays as I need to get into the mood.

Favorite Ornament or Decoration

I have always loved Christmas and the great spirits that come hand and hand with it. Selecting the perfect spot for the tree and putting everything on it just so. Everything has to be perfect so that the smiles of my children would light up the room when they see it finally finished a couple days later. I felt it was a gift to them from me. I always seemed to want it to be perfect for them. The tree, the holiday in general and the memories. Sometimes it was hard but I always tried.

I think that my favorite ornament/decoration would have to be the sled that I made one year to sit in the yard. With it's lights and the curled sled runners. It just said welcome to the entire Holiday Season for me. I suppose I really should drag it out and light it up.

Recent Layouts

Here are a couple of my recent layouts. This first one is of my DH posing for the camera and being silly.

This one of Gunner was created for a challenge at Kindred Creations. It was so fun to make.

This was his first romp in the snow. He was a bit leary at first but after that it was time to play.

Hello

Looks like it has been a while since I posted here. I have had a few issues so was away for a bit. I really need to motivate myself into doing this a little more often than I have been.

My DD lost her baby last month. What a sad thing to happen. I think they will be trying again but not sure when.

I really need to get busy on a few more layouts though I have accomplished several.

Going to be a Grandma Again ! ! !

My daughter and her husband are expecting another child. The date will be around June 15, 2007. How exciting this is for everyone. My grandson is so excited to be a big brother. I think he will do great. I told her she needs to have a little girl this time, though either will be fine.

Some Of My Sketches

This sketch was inspired by some photos sent to me by my niece. It makes a really great layout. Feel free to use this sketch for your own personal use. Do not upload it to any forums for sharing or claim it as your own.

Here is one sketch that just came to me. It actually makes a really nice layout. The possibilities are endless. Feel free to use this sketch for your own personal use. Do not upload it to any forums for sharing or claim it as your own.

This sketch was inspired by the new site design at Kindred Creations. It just inspired me so much that I had to make a sketch for my layouts. Feel free to use this sketch for your own personal use. Do not upload it to any forums for sharing or claim it as your own.

More of my recent Scrapbook pages

Most of these layouts were done as challenges posted at Kindred Creations. There is a link to their wonderful site on your right.

Brook's Water Tower

Journaling Reads:I can remember the Brook's Bottle as vividly as these photos. It was a sign for me as a child that we were almost at Grandma & Grandpa's house. It still stands today, some 30 years later.

Fall Fun

Journaling Reads:The leaves on the ground are something new for Gunner. He wasn't sure about them at first. So I kicked them arounda bit and made a game out of them.

Fall Drive

Journaling Reads:

While driving down the road I snapped this shot. It was a hit and miss as I was watching the road & not the camera. I checked it later to make sure I had in fact gotten the colors.

It's been a while since I posted....

It's snowing here a bit today. I sure wish we didn't have to have winter. I thought I would show you some of the scrapbook pages that I have completed over the past several weeks.

This is a bridge that can be found in Kentucky. Changing the photos to make them look old gave the layout a super effect.

Here is another layout of the Kentucky Roadways. I love finding photo ops like these. This wagon is so cool.

What a beautiful day it was today.

It was so nice today once it quit raining. It is 73 degrees right now and fair. I got some beautiful pictures of my great nephew yesterday. He is such a doll and growing so fast I can hardly keep up.

I work tomorrow and Thusrday. It should be interesting as usual as some of these guys have no clue. It's so slow so I am not sure how much longer I will be working 2 days a week even. I do have a ton of work but that's beside the point. Sure hope things pick back up soon as things are getting tight around here again.

Off to bed. Good night all.

It's Monday

Another rainy day so far though the sun is trying to pop out. I had planned on mowing but not with wet grass.

We spent Sunday at Fashion Farm. Went for breakfast then wandered around for a couple hours. They had just opened up the Fantasy Land and all the mazes. There was also a car show going on. What a busy place it was yesterday.

I am heading off to make some layouts. There are a ton of new challenges up at KC so there is plenty to do. The girls are racing for the new prize at the end of the month. So much fun over there.

Here is a layout I did for one of the challenges.

Good Day Everyone

It's not too bad of a day so far. The weather is almost up to 60 degrees but not chilly. I ran to the post office this morning to mail a package and gave some women a jump as their car wouldn't start. I told them to go to the auto parts store as they will do a test on it for free. I also told them not to shut it off. Then off to the bank where they were having problems with the tube shoot. Once they figured it out I got my banking done and off to the station to grab a little something to eat.

Andrea from KC prodded me into creating a sketch challenge, so I did. Feel free to head on over and try it out. I still have to make my layout using the sketch. So for now I am off to create another scrapbook page.

Have a wonderful day.

One for tonight

It's late but I am still up. Played a bit of bingo at DSP and then finished another layout of my husband. I told him I need more pictures to scrap. LOL He was like yea sure you do. Really though, I do need some more pictures. One can never have too many. This picture was taken at his parent's house in Kentucky at Christmas time in 2005. His mother said he looked like an angel because the light reflected off the door behind him.

A couple more of my layouts

Here are a couple more of my layouts. I have tons of them and love to make them. Now I all I need to do is get them printed for my scrapbook.

This is my boxer puppy. His name is Shooter's Sizzlin' Gun, named after his daddy and mommy. What a special treasure he is and makes us laugh on a daily basis. He has gotten so big since these photos were taken.

Another day

Sitting here tonight I am not as cold as I was yesterday. The sun showed it's pretty little head for almost 2 hours today and then went and hid. The trees are changing colors and I dread the cold days ahead. I am not a winter person for sure. I always stay cold and hardly ever have warm feet in the fall / winter months. Beautiful as they may be I dread them coming.

I thought I would post a scrapbook page that I recently made of my husband. It's a little out of the box for me but I was thrilled to see so many liked it. I will surely be making a few more of these in the near future.

The stitching was easier than what I thought as I was trying to create them with the pen tool. Using my premade shapes I found anything is possible for the stitching. I personally think that stitching is a great addition to most layouts. Now I need to figure out how to create those super overlays, like the one I used here by: Elizabeth Weaver.

Sitting here with freezing toes and a chilly nose.

Today was about like most days at work. I had a bunch of work ahead of me for sure. I had to start off by finishing a project I had been working on. Once that was done I started a new project that is going to be a pain in the neck but I should get it finished in a week or two. I sure wish some of these men knew how to write so you can at least read it.

I did manage to reorganize some of my Digital Scrapbooking Kits tonight though. It's amazing how many I have. Didn't realize it actually. So since that is the case I can truly understand why I have such a hard time selecting a kit to use for making a layout.

I haven't made a single layout today and that is quite odd for me. I have been making on average 2 a day sometimes more. Maybe I should do one before going to bed. LOL That's funny as it's already midnight here.

Why This Title For My Blog ?

Welcome to my rambling spot on the web. Why ramblings, well I tend to do that quite often so I felt it was appropriate.

Why Did I Do A Blog ?

So I started a blog. What was I thinking ? I guess I just needed a venting spot. Somewhere to rant, rave or share.
